Hey boss moms-to-be,
I see you. You’re building your business while building a family. Studios, wellness practices, creative brands, small businesses, pregnancy doesn’t pause that work, and it shouldn’t erase it either.
That’s why I love creating maternity sessions that reflect who you are as a founder, not just as an expecting mother. Recently, I worked with a Pilates instructor whose work started on a platform making movement fun and sustainable. By the time we shot her session, her little one had already joined the world. This session wasn’t about hiding her pregnancy or separating it from her brand. It was about honoring both: the woman she was and the woman she was becoming.
Traditional maternity photos often follow a familiar script: soft dresses, neutral backdrops… maybe some color sprinkled in (my favorite). Beautiful? Yes. But not the only story.
For women running businesses, that formula can feel limiting. Pregnancy is part of your journey, not a pause in it. For this session, the goal was to create imagery that felt aligned with her identity as a Pilates instructor: strong, grounded, intentional, and deeply connected to her purpose.
These images weren’t just about documenting a season of life — they were designed to live on her website, in her marketing materials, and alongside the work she does every day supporting other moms. Because your maternity photos can do more than be a keepsake — they can tell your story.

I don’t start sessions by asking, “Where should we shoot?” I start with: Who are you, and what needs to be communicated?
In a city like Los Angeles, skipping the traditional studio doesn’t limit possibilities, it expands them. When the vision is clear, the location becomes a canvas. We chose a ballet studio for its mirrors and natural light, elements wanted to keep surrounding a traditional Pilates class. Everything she needed to create elevated, business-aligned maternity imagery.
This approach resonates most with women who:
For many LA moms, maternity photos aren’t just personal keepsakes, they’re part of a bigger visual story. One that includes their work, their values, and the life they’re actively building.
Pregnancy doesn’t mean softening who you are. This session celebrated strength, movement, and purpose — not apart from motherhood, but alongside it. Your maternity photos can hold both sides of you: the founder and the mom.
Maternity photography doesn’t have to look one way. If you’re leading, teaching, creating, and building, this season deserves imagery that honors your identity — personally and professionally.
If this approach speaks to you, I’d love to create something aligned for your journey.
