McCrillis Gardens is a picturesque oasis, featuring two lovely gazebos, winding paths adorned with flowers and trees, and an adorable house that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairy tale. It’s hard to believe such a serene place exists in Maryland!

Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful family at McCrillis Gardens. The mother, who was expecting, wanted to capture the joy of their growing family. Referred to me by a previous client, we quickly connected, and I knew this session would be extraordinary.
A Golden Hour to Remember: The family wanted to announce their new addition during the magical golden hour. This time of day casts a warm, golden glow that makes every photo enchanting in McCrillis Gardens. What made the session even more special was that McCrillis Gardens was their wedding venue a few years ago! I didn’t even know that so when mom mentioned it to me on our call and how excited she was go back there for her family maternity session, I knew it was a match made in heaven!
Capturing Pure Joy: Their eldest daughter was an absolute delight, introducing me to her puppy and sharing stories of their adventures. Capturing moments of her playing with her puppy was a highlight, reflecting the pure joy and love within their family.

Best Time for Your Photoshoot: Golden hour is undoubtedly the best time for a session at McCrillis Gardens. The golden hues of the sun embrace the area, creating a breathtaking backdrop. However, this garden is stunning at any time of day. I once did an aerial arts mini session here early in the day, and the lighting was fantastic!
Permit and Parking Info: To have a session at McCrillis Gardens, a photographer permit is required. The garden is open from sunrise to sunset. Keep in mind, there’s no parking directly at the location, but you can park at Woods Academy across the street after 4 PM on weekdays or anytime on weekends.
